Day 12: Canine for Caden

So, a lot of people so far have asked me why I decided to document my acts of kindness.  There are two simple answers to that:

             1. To keep me accountable to not missing a day.
             2. To help raise awareness for kind acts and hopefully inspire people to do the same.

Today, I am hoping my act and this blog will help raise awareness for a good cause.  An 8 year-old boy named Caden and his story was brought to my attention this morning.  This boy has a rare condition called Osteogenesis Imperfecta aka Brittle Bone Disorder.  That means that his bones are so weak that they fracture under little stress.  If you are familiar with the movie, "Unbreakable" that is what he has. The family is looking to get Caden a canine companion to help him with his needs.  As you can imagine finding and paying for a dog with those skills is not easy.  Well, the family has found a dog named Hunter.  His unique disposition and skill set has made him an ideal fit for Caden and they have already started training together.  The only problem is Hunter does not come cheap ($4,000). A friend of the family has set up a contribution site to try and help this family since their insurance is most likely not going to cover the costs.

So, today for my act of kindness, I made a contribution for Caden in hopes of bringing him that much closer to bringing home Hunter.  If you are interested in reading more about his story or contributing to this cause, please visit http://cadensvalentine.chipin.com/a-valentine-for-caden-and-hunter

Also, If you can share this page with your friends to raise awareness that would be helpful as well!
Thank you!

  1. Those are all great reasons to document your journey. I'm doing something similar but not every day. My goal is 10 random acts of kindness per month. Many will be acts of charity and if I were to do those every day, I would soon be broke (haha). I'm also documenting each act in order to build a community of kindness. My hope is that people who have received an act of kindness will find that particular post and share their part of the story. Good luck to you!
